Research summary
Patient care and research efforts to further our understanding of kidney disease have been hampered by the limited information that is provided by current methods to assess kidney function. We aim to utilise newly developed methods of kidney scanning employing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to improve this. The proposed studies will show how MRI can improve our understanding of kidney disease and our ability to determine its severity without risk or discomfort to patients. The new methods of kidney scanning will be relevant across many different types of kidney disease, and will help future research into ways of improving treatment.
