Research summary
This project is part of a wider project (radar-cns.org) which is aiming to look at the potential use of remote measurement technologies (RMT) to facilitate the early identification of changes in health state in people with a range of health conditions. Current work underway in this project is investigating the use of RMT in people with depression, epilepsy or multiple sclerosis.
The purpose of this application is to gather qualitative information about how the RMT platform developed for use in the other conditions might be made applicable to people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), who experience a chronic, progressive disease trajectory, with increasing physical disability and reduced function.
This qualitative work aims to understand the acceptability and feasibility of RMT in people with RA, with three key objectives:
1. Understand the important outcomes valued by RA patients undergoing rheumatological pharmacotherapy.
2. Identify the psychological, behavioural, social, physical and cognitive variables which are associated with those outcomes.
3. Test the usability of the existing RMT platform and smartphone app, to understand the changes needed to maximise its utility in people with RA.REC name
