  • Research summary

RECOLLECT stands for Recovery Colleges Characterisation and Testing. and is a programme of research investigating Recovery Colleges. Recovery Colleges are a new approach to supporting people living with mental health problems. They are collaborative, strengths-based, person-centred, inclusive (i.e., available to all) and community-focused. A Recovery College provides support to students (mainly mental health service users but also family members, staff and other stakeholders) through adult education rather than through clinical approaches. Our NIHR grant (reference 200605) aims to address how Recovery Colleges can provide the most benefit to people who use mental health services.

Following on from the original RECOLLECT work which began in 2017, RECOLLECT 2 is made up of three studies, each with a different design:

Study 1 is a prospective pre-post study of Recovery College fidelity and service user student outcomes and service use.
Study 2 is a prospective controlled study comparing outcomes and service use among newly registered Recovery College service user students with a matched service user control group.
Study 3 is a set of organisational case studies.
