Research summary
This project aims to conduct an evaluation based research study exploring a programme of yoga by referral from community link workers and other health care professionals in areas of socio-economic deprivation in Edinburgh and Fife. The project will use a variety of data collection methods including interview and focus groups to explore the views of a range of stakeholders including those who were referred into the programme, whether they attended yoga or not, the health care workers who referred them, and the yoga teachers running the programme. It will also explore data around the numbers of people referred, and how frequently they attended. We hope to discover in what circumstances yoga programmes on social prescription may be of value, who they might best work for and what is required for them to be useful programmes in communities.
