Research summary
This project aims to build upon an established community-based reading project in Exeter care homes by extending this work into the Exeter Hospiscare charity network, with some new initiatives, introducing a research dimension to the project that addresses the connection between shared reading and literature-based activities with the promotion of human dignity in the contexts of aged and end-of-life care. The activities conducted and analysed (through qualitative questionnaires and interviews) will include shared reading (eg. poetry and fiction), letter writing workshops and letter writing services (eg. to family members, friends, for posterity, for relationship reconciliation), and assistance with life narrative creation.
