The aim of the proposed research is to use in-depth interviews to explore whether individuals who have received a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia differ in their views, beliefs and experiences of receiving their diagnosis for the first time, and the impact that receipt of the diagnosis has, particularly in terms of stigma and self-stigma.
