  • Research summary

The magnitude of soft tissue envelope around the knee joint has implications for ease of performing surgery and potential post operative complications e.g. infection. While this is recognised there is no objective measure currently available. Body mass index (BMI) represents a poor surrogate for this measure due to varying body habitus both within and between the sexes.
This study aims to investigate and develop a radiographic index to describe the soft tissue envelope. The index will be validated by using MRI measurements.
