  • Research summary

We are investigating patient experiences of adverse outcomes or complications following urogynaecological surgery and how this may impact their quality of life. We are especially interested in:

    1. the experiences of women from particular demographic groups (by age, weight and parity); and
    2. whether there is a correlation between certain treatments/procedures and satisfaction with treatment outcomes.

We will be conducting a retrospective review of women who have consented to their data being used for research when completing an online questionnaire (ePAQ-PF) prior to routine review in urogynaecology clinic. This is a routine questionnaire that patients are asked to complete at a number of NHS sites located across England. As part of this questionnaire, they are asked to provide consent for anonymised data to be used in future research studies. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals have collated data from participating sites for the period April 2018 to April 2022 as part of their study on sexual function in older women (IRAS reference 301242). They have given Leeds Beckett University permission (subject to ethical approval) to analyse this data set for the purposes of this study on adverse outcomes
