  • Research summary

The study seeks to improve the experience of those delivering and receiving care in the emergency department (ED). We are using an approach called Experienced Based Co-Design (EBCD) to carry out this study. This technique has been used in hospitals in both the UK and Australia but not to our knowledge in an emergency department in the UK. The approach provides a unique opportunity for staff, patients and their carers to work together in redesigning healthcare services in order to improve patient and staff experiences. Trained facilitators will use edited films ('trigger films') of patient interviews to stimulate joint work between patients and staff to redesign services.
