    1) To explore unique and personal domains associated with quality of life (QoL) in a sample of cognitively intact ventilated patients at a specialised long-term care unit, using a measure of individualised QoL, the SEIQOL-DW. 2) To compare patients’ self-described QoL to family members and nursing and healthcare staff perceptions of patients’ QoL. 3) To assess, whenever possible, whether any change occurs over time (1 and 2 years) in the answers given to the SEIQOL-DW
