Research summary
Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) is a therapeutic model originating in the USA for preschool children who have experienced trauma and their parents/caregivers. The model is specifically both trauma-focused and multiculturally framed. While there is a robust evidence base for clinical outcomes following receipt of CPP, there is as yet no known qualitative evidence regarding the acceptability of the model to service users (parents/caregivers). These issues are especially relevant given the cultural differences between the USA and UK. This study will examine the perspectives of service users (parents/caregivers) who have received the model through semi-structured qualitative interviews.
