Research summary
This study aims to investigate the way in which graft-versus-host disease, also known as GVHD, affects the quality of life of patients with the disease. GVHD is a common complication following stem cell transplant, particularly when the stem cells have been donated from another person. It can affect many different parts of the body, including the skin, digestive tract, liver, lungs, joints and the reproductive and urinary organs. We are interested in exploring the effect of having GVHD on health-related quality of life. We are also interested in exploring the patient experience of clinical services and the care that is received by patients who suffer with GVHD. The objective of the study is to use this information to improve the overall care of patients with GVHD. It will be conducted by interviewing patients with GVHD for approximately one hour, which will be audio recorded, and then transcribed and analysed using qualitative research methods.
