Research summary
Evidence shows that although many patients cope with tooth loss and removable prostheses, others have significant psychological distress despite having technically successful dentures. The aims of this study are therefore to create tools that would measure and quantify the psychological distress caused by tooth loss despite technically successful dentures, and to recommend appropriate interventions when indicated.
Patients from Oasis Dental Care Steeple Grange and Ware Dental Care Practices will be screened according to the Kennedy Classification for tooth loss and Functional Dental assessment criteria. Those who wish to participate will be handed Patient Information Sheet (PIS), which explains the nature of the study.
A total of 150 participants will be recruited according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Subsequently, Psychological Screening Questionnaire will be given to the participants. The results will be analysed using the independent T test, Chi Square and Logistic regression analysis will be used.
