Research summary
Proximal humerus fractures are fractures of the upper arm that account for up to 10% of all fractures sustained worldwide. This is a retrospective study at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MRI and Trafford Hospital)between 1st April 2015- 1st April 2016. Each of the patients will be identified by review of all shoulder and humerus Xrays done in Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MRI and Trafford Hospital) between those dates. Fractures will be classified according to fracture patterns radiologically according to accepted parameters. All patients will be assessed by the Disability Arm Shoulder and Hand, Oxford Shoulder Score and EQ5D questionnaires that will measure health and function status. They will also be asked about their overall satisfaction post-fracture management. These results will be collated and statistically analysed to ascertain whether there is any correlation between fracture patterns, treatment and patient outcomes.
