Research summary
Patients with kidney failure on dialysis often retain some natural kidney function which has many benefits. There is a growing interest in tailoring the amount of haemodialysis a patient receives according to the amount of kidney function remaining and moving away from a one-size-fits-all model of providing haemodialysis.
Measuring kidney function in patients on haemodialysis is important but relies on collecting urine between dialysis sessions which is inconvenient and cumbersome. This project will determine whether a simple blood test may be used to predict kidney function in this population. This would allow kidney function to be measured
routinely and easily without the need for urine collection.REC name
