  Data efficient platform trials offering an opportunity to increase access to research and remove barriers in participation, thereby improving the diversity of patient participation. However, we don’t know whether firstly, patient information and consent forms in electronic format and in multiple languages, or secondly, protected characteristics (diversity) data collected using Hospital Episode Statistics or traditional methods like patient questionnaires or direct questioning are suitable for surgical patients speaking different languages.
