Research summary
Prostate cancer screening and investigations are usually initiated by the use of a prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test. This is a low sensitivity test performed that can help identify patients that require further investigation for prostate cancer. Following this, MRI and prostate biopsies are required to identify or exclude cancer diagnosis. Due to PSA’s low sensitivity, a proportion of patients undergo these investigations unnecessarily. Additional more sensitive tests may help reduce the number of unnecessary tests performed.
This study will seeks to prove how urinary analysis will prove invaluable in helping to diagnose prostate cancer through non – invasive means and possibly hold the key to future diagnosis.REC name
