Research summary
The study team would investigate whether there was a learning curve in performing prostate biopsies (trans-rectal ultrasound-guided prostate (TRUS) biopsies. To investigate this they would look at trainees (doctors and nurse specialists) learning the procedure and experienced operators’ (consultants and staff grade) outcomes. Outcomes would include cancer detection rates, pain reported by patients, complication rates, core lengths/number of cores and time taken to perform the procedure.
