  this is a prospective observational cohort study, to investigate the effect of perioperative factors (including anesthesia and frailty) on perioperative inflammation and cancer outcomes. breath samples will be taken before and after lung cancer surgery and in the follow up period (if cancer returns). in addition to the breath samples, blood tests (taking as part of standard care) results will be reviewed.
