Research summary
Entia is producing a measurement technique that measures haemoglobin (Hb) total white blood cell count (WBC), Neutrophil count (ANC) and Platelet count (PLT).
This study will aim to compare the results of up to 600 excess venous blood samples from a gold standard laboratory analyser, to results using iterative measurement techniques, from the same blood sample.
There will be different phases in this study, with each phase focusing on a different neutrophil range. Blood samples taken from Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) patients undergoing routine venepuncture for full blood count testing will be flagged to be used for our research if their neutrophil count is within the range of each phase. The excess blood sample (20uL) will be run on the measurement system and analysed.
This research study aims to test the performance of the iterative measurement techniques with blood from patients with low neutrophil counts (0.5 - 2.0 x 10^9 /L) during the first phase of the study, normal neutrophil counts (2.0 - 7.5 x 10^9 / L) during the second phase of the study and blood samples of any neutrophil counts during the final phase of the study. The measurement technique will be refined after each phase.
