Research summary
This prospective study will follow patients with Stargardt (STGD) Type 4 over a period of 24 months with specific testing settings, which will help to understand how the disease progresses and to determine the reliable parameters to measure progression and, therefore, to be used as outcome measures in future clinical trials.
By following patients with STGD4, physicians will be able to correlate the clinical spectrum of STGD4 with the genetic findings and findings in the anatomical/morphological (imaging) and functional tests. All test
parameters will be established based on cutting-edge technology developed in the past decade, which is now available in clinical practice as standard of care procedures. Furthermore, a novel technique to test rod (scotopic) visual function, scotopic microperimetry, described just about two years ago will be employed in the ProgStar-04 study.REC name
