Research summary
Women suffering miscarriages face a long and stressful journey. Although mathematical formulae exist which can estimate either the chance of pregnancy occurring naturally or following assisted conception treatment (test tube baby), there are no models available which predict the chance of having a live birth following repeated miscarriages.
My work is aiming to develop a model so that patients and clinicians can estimate the chances of live birth and other key obstetric (pregnancy related) outcomes. The data will be collected from research projects conducted both locally and nationally, and also from miscarriage clinics (specialist centres) in London and Liverpool. Having worked out the mathematical model to predict the changes of live birth, I plan to develop a simple internet-based tool, so patients and doctors can work out an individual’s risks of miscarriage.
I will then evaluate if patients and doctors found this tool useful.REC name
