Research summary
Approximately 15-30% of patients report a poor clinical outcome following TKR, as they continue to experience persistent knee pain, physical disability, or poor quality of life. Approximately 20% of people who undergo a TKR are dissatisfied at 12-months. Modifiable lifestyle factors including high BMI, inactivity, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption may contribute to poor clinical outcomes following TKR. The extent to which these lifestyle factors influence clinical outcome has been deemed a research priority by NICE.
This small study will determine whether a larger study, which is able to determine whether lifestyle factors contribute to poor outcomes from knee replacement, is feasible.REC name
