Research summary
This study aims to evaluate sensitivity and specificity of the ACR (American College of Rheumatology) fibromyalgia diagnostic criteria for the first time in a rheumatology outpatient setting. Additionally, the MSK-HQ questionnaire will be used for the first time with fibromyalgia patients and evaluated if it can capture the symptom severity of these patients. The challenge is that the ACR fibromyalgia tool does not capture symptom severity. This is where the MSK-HQ is essential, as capturing this measure (which is not disease specific) will enable us to obtain more accurate information on patient symptoms. Importantly, it is relevant to consider that early inflammatory arthritis can be non-specific at first presentation, and therefore having robust data to inform any decision regarding clinic pre-screening is essential. Having more accurate information on patient symptoms may help to better treat patients in the future.
