Research summary
Introduction
Primary mesenteric sarcomas are rare. Histologically, the vast majority are found to be desmoid tumours. However, other sarcoma histological subtypes are found in a small number of cases. Currently, there is nothing in the medical literature that discusses the outcomes of patients with less common histological subtypes of primary mesenteric sarcoma.Aim
Primary outcome - To analyse outcomes (overall survival/disease-free survival) following surgical excision of primary mesenteric sarcomas.
Secondary outcomes - To identify factors associated with a poor prognosis. Methods
All patients undergoing surgical excision of a primary mesenteric sarcoma at any of the included centres between January 2000 and December 2018 will be identified from MDT records. Clinical computer records will be retrospectively reviewed and data gathered on demographics, tumour related characteristics and treatment related characteristics.
Statistical analysis will include Kaplan-Meier Survival Curves (overall survival, disease-free survival).
Univariate analysis (log rank tests) and multivariate analysis (cox regression analysis) will be performed dependent on the number of cases collected.REC name
