Research summary
The aim of this study is to estimate the prevalence of peri-menopausal symptoms in women aged 45-60 in two general practices in Worcester UK, and to identify the knowledge, attitudes and practices associated with the menopause.
The researchers have previously carried out such a survey in their home country of Sri Lanka, where this area has not previously been adequately explored. Having a clearer picture through their previous work, the investigator now wishes to look at the prevalence, knowledge, attitudes and practices of women resident in the UK. The investigator believes that the knowledge acquired by this study will help health care providers to more effectively support peri and post-menopausal women.
The project will be a self-assessed, questionnaire based survey of patients in GP waiting rooms to gather data about the experience of the menopause.REC name
