  • Research summary

Previous research in the US has revealed a high incidence of skin damage in hospitalised neonates. However, the risk factors for skin damage in infants admitted to neonatal units have not yet been fully described. This study will record all instances of any kind of skin damage occurring in three neonatal units at one point in time, and all instances of any kind of skin damage occurring in two neonatal units over a period of three months at each (six months in total). This will provide the basis to estimate prevalence and incidence in NHS units in the United Kingdom.
