Research summary
Previous research has shown a relationship between debt and depression, but there has been no examination of whether this is an issue in Bipolar Disorder. This study will assess via self-report questionnaires finances and mental health in those with depression or bipolar disorder across two time points. This will determine the prevalence of financial difficulties in these populations, the impact of financial difficulties on mental health, and any psychological correlates of debt. Interviews will also assess participants views of the relationship between debt and mental health.
