  • Research summary

The aim of the study is to investigate how the level of neutrophils, microvesicles and cytokines (blood cells) are affected by STEMI. This will be compared to levels in healthy volunteers. The main benefit of this study is to gain a better understanding of the causes of coronary heart disease which may lead to improved treatments or prevention in the future.

Samples will be taken from participants undergoing a PCI procedure (pre and post). The samples will be analysed to assess the activity of these blood cells. Healthy volunteers will be recruited in line with the patients in order to identify any correlation.
