Research summary
Pain is the most common emergency complaint occurring in 66% of emergency patients. In one survey, more than half of these individuals felt more could be done to treat their pain. The purpose of this study is to retrospectively analyse prospectively collected prehospital (ambulance service) data to understand more about patients pain scores, their physiology, prescribing trends and the effects of this prescribing on a patients journey. These data will be used to inform an RCT of novel prehospital analgesics (pain killers).
