Research summary
This research aims to conduct preference assessments with older adults with dementia in order to evaluate the their preference for décor colours. The focus of this study will target décor colours within participants' bedrooms and analyse the best method for identifying preference for people who may not be able to speak. We seek to evaluate a method for giving people with dementia a choice in their home decor. We will also collect information on preferences from family members and carers to see if these preferences correspond to direct measures of preference. Finally, indices of happiness will be observed and recorded to evaluate whether that particular choice affects people's happiness.
