Research summary
In this pilot observational study, women who need blood pressure monitoring during pregnancy and/or postpartum will be offered a wearable device, such as a Galaxy 6 watch, to measure their blood pressure in addition to NHS standard care, including home blood pressure monitoring and/or hospital visits. Women will be asked to take blood pressure measurements with Galaxy 6 watch at the same time as the clinical blood pressure measurement done by a digital blood pressure monitor up to 3 months postpartum. The measurements obtained by Galaxy 6 watch will automatically be transferred to a secure UK-based app blindly and without any personal information. These measurements of blood pressure will be compared with those obtained by digital blood pressure monitors at home or during hospital visits. This small-scale preliminary investigation will help design a larger multicentre clinical study.
