Research summary
We aim to discover whether a simple breath test, other biological samples or physiological measurement can predict frailty (assessed by grip strength). Participants will be 100 younger adults and 300 older adults. They will be invited for baseline breath, blood, urine and saliva samples, imaging measures, frailty assessments and questionnaires. Older adults will keep a calendar of falls and medical incidents. They will be invited for repeat testing after any such incident and six months later. Older adults who do not fall will be invited for repeat testing after six and twelve months.
