  • Research summary

The study will follow patients who have recently suffered a traumatic injury over the course of one year, to see if we can identify which patients will have long-term pain and disability. The study aims to find a set of factors, measured within days of the trauma, that will allow prediction of which patients are at risk of developing ongoing (chronic) pain and disability. These factors will enable the creation of a screening tool for predicting which future patients may be at risk of poor outcome. This screening tool will subsequently inform the feasibility of developing and evaluating a new clinical care pathway of rehabilitation that matches interventions to the predicted risk of poor recovery.
