Research summary
The PREDICT PD study has been running for two years and aims to identify a group of individuals at increased risk of Parkinson’s disease. The long term aim is to recruit members of this group to trials of drugs that may slow or stop the disease.
Parkinson’s disease is associated with typical changes in certain areas of the brain that can be picked up using nuclear medicine brain scans and ultrasound scans. In this study we want to see if these changes can also be picked up in our group estimated to be at higher risk of Parkinson’s disease when compared to those in the group thought to be lower risk.
