Research summary
Paraneoplastic encephalitis, which is a neurological condition involving the inflammation of the brain with a cause related to cancer, has been a growing concern among clinicians and researchers. It is a highly treatable condition but it carries significant morbidity and mortality if not properly managed. This illness can occur both before or after the cancer diagnosis. It remains uncertain how common the disease is, and which population is most likely affected. This study investigates the characteristics and common-ness of paraneoplastic encephalitis before diagnosis in ovarian cancer. It will look into how common the disease occurs before the cancer diagnosis, and what are the factors that pose a greater risk to certain groups who will be developing this illness.
