Research summary
Operative deliveries account for approximately 30% of all deliveries in British maternity units. It is recommended best practice that these patients should be reviewed postnatally to discuss the indication for emergency operative delivery, management of any complications and the prognosis for future pregnancies. \nWe want to assess the views of mothers following delivery to compare the relative experiences of those whose mode of delivery was through emergency operative means as opposed to those who did not require such interventions. This will allow us to assess if medical and midwifery postnatal consultations are having a positive contribution to the experience of childbirth.
