  • Data collection arrangements

Participants will be approached by the direct healthcare team within the clinics providing routine care at the University Hospitals Plymouth and North Bristol NHS trusts. Approximately 20ml of blood could be collected after informed consent is obtained. In the course of the patient's routine treatment, residual tissue (tumour) will be collected according to routine pathology practice. After diagnostic testing is complete, a collection of surplus fresh and paraffin embedded tissue could be labelled with a unique identification numbers and used for research. These anonymised samples will be sent to the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Plymouth but could be shared with other brain tumour researchers at other research institutions if the tissue bank committee decide it is beneficial. Any information, which identifies a participant, will be kept separately within the NHS setting and only anonymised data will be sent to the researchers.
