Research summary
This project aims to evaluate an online, self-guided programme for individuals with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), a serious condition resulting from prolonged trauma that leads to emotional difficulties and negative self-beliefs. While treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are available, tailored options for CPTSD are scarce.
The research will transform existing treatment manuals into pre-recorded online modules to improve accessibility for those with CPTSD. Using the platform Qualtrics, participants will complete the modules at their own pace and complete questionnaire measures. In addition, participants will provide feedback on their experiences, which will be collated at the end of the study using an open-ended questionnaire embedded into the Qualtrics software. This will ask questions concerning how the participants found the study, what was helpful, what helped their engagement with the content, what the barriers were, and whether they experienced any adverse effects.
I hope to demonstrate that the internet-based stabilisation intervention is both feasible and well-received by participants, facilitating its broader implementation in mental health services to support individuals with CPTSD better. Additionally, this study aims to generate evidence that can inform mental health policies and guidelines specific to CPTSD, aiding in creating effective online resources.
