Data collection arrangements
This application is for a database of routinely collected information that is donated by patients who specifically consent for their data to be used for research. The data includes some demographic and clinical details as well as results from assessments of symptoms and measures of well-being which are collected at five points during treatment. Data is stored in a password protected database on hospital computers or on an NHS Trust approved encrypted USB drive. The database is audited regularly and registered with the information governance office of the NHS Trust. Anonymised data with only the information relevant to the research being conducted is released to researchers who are collaborating with members of the clinic. Patients can withdraw their consent to have their data used in research at any point.
Research programme
The database will support research into the effectiveness of psychological therapies for psychosis, as well as psychological factors associated with psychosis and related psychological difficulties. As a national specialist service, we provide a unique assessment and treatment service and there are no other databases that we are aware of that record treatment with psychological interventions in such a detailed, longitudinal form. This provides a unique resource for the mental health research community to understand psychosis and to evaluate and improve psychological treatments.
