Research summary
Research Question: Optimising the Implementation of Physical Activity interventions for musculoskeletal disorders: A qualitative study.
Project aims: To understand views of patients and clinicians about how physical activity interventions for musculoskeletal disorders should be implemented.
Methods: The project proposes to undertake 1 hour semi-structured interviews with up to 10 patients experiencing a musculoskeletal condition and up to 10 clinicians that support people with musculoskeletal conditions. Interviews will take place via either face to face or video conferencing. For inclusion patients will also be required to have experience of these interventions and clinicians will need to have led them.
Participants will be asked their views on how to implement this type of intervention, from their own experiences and also with reference to findings from previous studies about what are optimal components of physical activity interventions for musculoskeletal disorders. Clear and concise information about the previous studies will be supplied to all participants.
The views of participants will be organised by undertaking thematic analysis of the interview transcripts, the themes that arise will be the basis for the results of the project.
