Research summary
Physical activity is associated with better health and better recovery from disease. However, achieving the minimum recommended levels of physical activity is difficult and even after attendance at a cardiac rehab programme patients can find it difficult to maintain sufficient physical activity. The reasons for this are complex and the best way to help address this is not known. Furthermore, it is not known what impact rurality has on physical activity participation. This study aims to find out the barriers and facilitators to physical activity in patients who have a cardiac condition. The findings of the study will help guide future service delivery with the aim to help more people achieve the minimum recommended levels of exercise.
