Research summary
Visual hallucinations or visions are the experience of seeing something that is not actually there. They can occur on the borders of sleep, and in a range of conditions and they are particularly common in people with a specific type of dementia called Lewy Body Disease. Despite these being common, we know relatively little about people's experiences of these visions. This research will ask people with visions about what they see, how often it occurs, what the experience is like, and what they understand to be going on and what impact it has on them. To gather this rich information we will have interviews with approximately 12 people diagnosed with dementia related to Lewy Body Disease (DLB) who experience these visions.
