  • Research summary

The aim of the study is to test whether the LC29 questionnaire reliably measures symptoms and quality of life issues related to lung cancer and its treatments. It is also to determine whether the questionnaire is acceptable to participants with lung cancer. Participants with lung cancer will be asked to complete the EORTC QLQ C30 and LC29 questionnaires and then undergo a debriefing interview with a trial researcher.Specifically, participants will be asked whether they needed help to complete the questionnaire, whether any of the questions were confusing or difficult to answer or upsetting, and whether they have any other comments about the QLQ-LC29. If participants answer yes to any of these questions, they will be asked to give further details and explain why. Furthermore, it will be noted how long it took the participants to complete the QLQ-LC29. A sample of participants will be asked to complete the QLQ C30+ QLQ-LC29 questionnaires again either one week after the original questionnaires or 4 weeks after the original questionnaires were completed.
Information relating to disease stage and treatment will be obtained from the medical records. If participants are unable to self-complete the questionnaires, the researcher will provide assistance as required, and this will be noted on the debriefing questionnaire.
