Research summary
This research project seeks to examine how adopting a person centred policy might impact on adult social care provision in Northern Ireland for older users. It will focus primarily on the concept of personalisation exploring how this could be translated into policy in Northern Ireland. Currently personalisation is at the forefront of debates about health and social care with policy commitments being made in England, Scotland and Wales. In comparison, in Northern Ireland while there has been reference to ‘personalisation’ in Northern Ireland’s policy documents there has been little explicit detail as to how this might be achieved. This study seeks to assess future policy developments using insight from two groups - older people in receipt of services and those over 50 about what kind of care provision they feel should be available in the future.
