  • Research summary

The incidence of microscopic residual cancer after pancreatic resection for pancreatic cancer is very variable. Unfortunately, there are clear evidences that a non-radical resection (R1) is affecting the survival rate in patients affected by pancreatic cancer. It is believed that the peri-adventitial surgical approach proposed in this study could decrease the rate of microscopical residual tumor and increase survival. However, there are lack of experimental studies comparing this technique with a standard surgical approach. This research will aim to investigate the role of routine peri-adventitial dissection on the margin status and local recurrence rates.
