Research summary
Following the creation of regional major trauma networks in England, hospital major trauma wards were created in 22 cities in April 2013. Clinical services were reviewed and funded to care for the needs of these patients, with a focus on rehabilitation services. This study aims to use semi structured telephone interviews to gain an understanding of the patient's lived experience of Occupational Therapy intervention following admission to one such regional major trauma ward. The researcher will undertake a phenomenological approach, using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) to explore and interpret these lived experiences. It is hoped that these lived experiences may also provide insights which could generate clinical recommendations for Occupational Therapy practice in the future.
