  • Research summary

This research seeks to understand the experiences and views of patients that chose peritoneal dialysis as a treatment of choice and following the insertion of the Tenkoff catheter.
The researcher will interview patients who have received the Moncrief-Popovich technique which embeds the Tenkoff catheter into the peritoneum cavity a number of weeks before dialysis is predicted to start.
If the study fails to recruit enough participants from this group, the PI will then recruit from patients who have followed the care pathway set out by national care standards (DH,2004). This approach seeks to highlight any differences or similarities in the experiences of these patients during their transition to starting dialysis.
