Research summary
This research project is designed to take place in one inner city practice. It is aimed at exploring the views of patients consulting an Advanced Nurse Practitioners instead of a GP which would traditionally have occurred in the past.
The study aims to extract rich qualitative data and ordinal quantitative data of participants opinions, attitudes and thoughts about their experience of consulting with an ANP instead of a GP about an acute minor illness. An acute minor illness is defined as a self-limiting illness that may or may not require treatment. These are among the most commonly presented problems seen within general practice (Jones et al 2010). By identifying participants views the service can be reviewed and if necessary, adjusted, to enable it to meet the increasing demands within modern general practice.REC name
