Research summary
The aim of this study is to determine the various ways chronic stroke patients use an affected upper limb in activities of daily living, and if they find any function useful. Participants will asked to attend focus groups which will explore what they use their affected limb for, and if they find any of the function useful. Questions will go from broad based to more specific to figure out function, and will be based on the Who health organisation Framework the International Classification of Function. Each focus group will contain 6-8 people. The answers will be audio taped, and later transcribed into text verbatim. Data will then be coded into themes, which will show what limb function participants find useful. Participants will also be asked to complete the DASH, a brief patient report outcome measure focusing on upper limb function.
